Partida Mondavi Pairing Dinner

Starting in June 2010 and running through January 2011, Gary Shansby, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Tequila Partida and Michael Mondavi of Michael Mondavi Family Wines (and a Partida board member) are presenting a series of six dinners co-hosted by some of America's top-rated chefs. These dinners in San Francisco, Chicago, Miami, Dallas, Los Angeles and New York, are bringing together press, chefs, bartenders and sommeliers to explore the surprising relationships between fine wine and tequila. As terroir is equally important to tequila as it is to wine, the two industry legends are exploring the pairings of tequila and wine with a variety of cuisine as prepared by each chef at the respective dinners.

Michael presents his wines including M by Michael Mondavi, his signature Cabernet Sauvignon from the Animo Vineyard in Napa Valley, Emblem Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon and a selection of Isabel Mondavi wines, while Gary pours all four Partida marques: Blanco, Reposado, Añejo and Elegante Extra Añejo. The exquisite pairing dinners have occurred at Jardinière in San Francisco with Chef Traci des Jardins, Blackbird in Chicago with Chef Paul Kahan and at Palme D'Or in Miami with Chef Philippe Ruiz. Each dinner is a collaboration between Gary, Michael and the chef to create a unique menu that is specially suited to enhance the flavors of the wines and tequilas. "I believe this dinner concept with creative, well-paired menus will encourage America's chefs and food journalists to consider the similarities (between fine wine and tequila) and look at tequila in a new way," said Gary Shansby. The schedule for the next three dinners includes Dallas on September 13th at Abacus, Los Angeles on October 25th and in New York on January 26th of next year.
