Partida: Spreading the Word

Partida took over the social scene in Miami during the month of January with two special events in the "Magic City." On Sunday, January 24th, producer/director Michael Bay (who has created such blockbusters as Transformers, 2012, Bad Boys, Pearl Harbor and Armageddon), opened up his Miami home for the Miami-Dade Tocqueville Society
Grand Reception. The reception honored individuals who have supported their community with extraordinarily high levels of giving. The affluent crowd enjoyed Partida Margarita cocktails as well as tastings of Partida Blanco neat. Partida was the exclusive tequila at the event, and proceeds went to United Way. Michael Bay enjoyed receiving his own personalized bottle of Partida Elegante Extra Añejo.

A groundbreaking tequila pairing dinner took place on Monday, January 25th at Clarke's in Miami Beach called the Miami Agave Experience. Partida Tequila and Bartender Ambassador Jacques Bezuidenhout were on hand, along with other spirit luminaries such as John Lermayer of the Florida Room, King Cocktail Dale DeGroff, Modern Mixologist Tony Abou Ganim
, Director of Mixology for Southern Wine & Spirits Francesco Lafranconi, Gabriel Orta of the Florida Room, Ambassador of Tequila to the United States Julio Bermejo, Phil Ward of Mayahuel in New York, Jaime Boudreau of Vessel
in Seattle and stars of Miami's cocktail scene. The evening started with 60 guests enjoying three different style margaritas and tequila tastings with Julio Bermejo. Julio spoke highly of Partida, mentioning that it was the truest example of a Valley Style Tequila. Guests were then treated to a four-course meal by Miami celebrity chef Michelle Bernstein with tequila cocktail pairings. The special Partida cocktail was called the Black Opal. Following the dinner, the bar opened for all attending bartenders to showcase their own tequila cocktails. Partida flowed 'till all hours of the night in a brilliant showcase of tequila.

Añejo Kiss by Marita Leonard
When sipping the Añejo Kiss, you can experience the warmth of the tropical sun through the flavor of the Partida Añejo and a kiss of sweetness from the Amarula Cream.
11/2 oz of Partida Añejo Tequila
1/2 oz Creme de Cacao (white)
1 oz Amarula Cream
Mix ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake well. Strain into a chilled martini glass.

Black Opal by Jacques Bezuidenhout
"I always loved drinking Guinness with a splash of Port in the winter so I wondered how Partida would taste in the mix. It all ended up tasting pretty wicked! The Partida Reposado adds an extra layer of complexity that works with the Guinness; some of my favorite things in a glass."
1 1/2 oz Partida Reposado
1 1/2 oz Guinness Draft
1/2 oz Tawny Port
1/4 oz Agave Nectar
(Cut with equal parts water.)
Dash of Angostura Bitters
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled wine glass or small pint glass without ice. Garnish with some grated or ground cinnamon powder.
Guinness
Note: Take a pint of Guinness beforehand and use a bar spoon to stir it up for about 30 secs. This removes some of the Co2.

Tequila Whisperer Features Partida Tequila
On January 28th, Lippy, the host of the online Tequila Whisperer show, took to the airwaves to pledge his love for Partida Tequila. Lush Life Book Party at Elixir in San Francisco
Join the King and Queen of Cocktails, Dale and Jill DeGroff, at one of the oldest saloons in San Francisco. Elixir will be hosting a book party for Jill's Lush Life, Portraits from Behind the Bar, on Monday, March 15th at 7:00 pm. Elixir's proprietor H. Joseph Ehrmann (and a caricature within the book), will be on hand to create Latin cocktails with Dale, while Jill signs books.
Manhattan Cocktail Classic Set to take over New York
New York City's first multi-day spirits festival celebrating history, education and cocktails will be held from May 14th-18th. The Manhattan Cocktail Classic will include five days of activities full of events, seminars and parties, honoring Manhattan and some of the finest spirits within it. Keep checking the website for additional information. The first round of tickets will go on sale on March 15th.

On December 22nd , blogger Selena Ricks of TheDizzyFizz celebrated the holidays with an old-fashioned punch party at The Summit Bar
in New York City. The invite-only event brought together top mixologists, bloggers, industry professionals and friends to ring in the holidays. Seven USBGNY members created special seasonal punches, including the "Party-Da Punch," by Greg Seider of The Summit Bar. This special punch is made with Partida Reposado, pineapple puree, Serrano chili, Mexican-cinnamon infusion and lime juice. Author/illustrator Jill DeGroff signed copies of her Lush Life book, and was joined by her husband and fellow featured guest Dale DeGroff.

Dinners at Sol Cocina in Newport Beach

Sol Cocina kicked off the holiday season with two sold-out Tequila Dinners with Partida Tequila on December 7th and 8th. The evenings began with passed appetizers and guests were treated to a Partida Margarita bar where they could put their own mixology skills to the test. Fresh ingredients including herbs, vegetables and fruit were available to customize the cocktails for the evening. Some favorite combinations were red bell pepper, basil and jalapeno and blackberry/mint. Chef Deborah Schneider created an elaborate meal (paired with Partida Tequila) and surprised guests with a Chocolate bread pudding paired with Partida Blanco. Guests were led through a tequila tasting explaining the heritage and nuances of Partida. Sol Cocina has opened to rave reviews in Orange County and Partida is proud to be a featured Tequila.

Partida Kicks off the Golden Globes in Los Angeles
102 guests attended a "Forever 21" birthday party and 67th Annual Golden Globe Kickoff Party at the Houdini Mansion in Los Angeles on January 16th. Partida was their exclusive spirit sponsor, and the cocktail of the evening was the Partida Margarita. Showing the Scientific Side of Cocktails in San Francisco
400 attendees learned the "Science of Cocktails"at a fundraising event in San Francisco on January 20th. The evening raised $80,000 for the educational programs at the Exploratorium Museum, where master mixologists explained about the different scientific properties of spirits and cocktails. Jacques Bezuidenhout and Antonio Bock of Tropisueño prepared the Black Opal and Meebo cocktails.

Bloggers Praise Agave in Brooklyn

On January 24th, a group of 28 New York bloggers came together at Julie Reiner's Clover Club
in Brooklyn for a "Praise Agave" brunch. Partida Tequila and Sombra Mezcal were the featured spirits, with delicious cocktails created by Julie Reiner and Katie Darling. Dave Singh, Director of Brand Development for Partida Tequila, presented Partida to the group. The afternoon was enjoyed by all.

Hearts & Cocktails for Haiti in Brooklyn
On Sunday, January 31st, Partida Tequila contributed to an event called "Hearts & Cocktails for Haiti" at Bar Celona in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Partida was part of the "212 Cocktail," made with Partida, Aperol and Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice. Many of New York's best bartenders took turns behind the bar mixing cocktails featuring over 40 spirit brands who donated product for the event.

Superbowl Party Benefits Children in Miami

On February 4th, Mary Brickell Village hosted a Super Bowl weekend kickoff to benefit the CHARLEE House, a non-profit agency that cares for children in Miami-Dade County who have been placed in foster care due to abuse, abandonment and neglect. Local restaurants offered food tastings, there was live music in the courtyard and of course, Partida Margaritas! Guests were able to have a taste of Partida Tequila or a Margarita and then stroll into Rosa Mexicano to order Partida cocktails from their mixologist, Gaston Gonzalez.

Restaurateur and financier Jeffrey Chodorow has recently opened up a new South Beach hotspot, El Scorpion Mexican Kitchen and Tequila Bar to rave reviews. Partida Tequila hit the ground running with staff trainings and a friends and family dinner. After one week, they had already sold an entire bottle of Elegante and the cocktail menu thoroughly represents Partida Tequila. 2 oz Partida Tequila Reposado
1/4 oz Elderflower Liqueur
Lingonberry Puree
Fresh squeezed
Kaffir Limes and Cane Sugar
Sweetened Meyer Lemon Juice
Mix all ingredients in a blender cup with ice. Chop all ingredients and pour into a 16 oz Margarita glass half rimmed with sea salt. Garnish with lingonberries and one elderflower.
